Rising Sun (White)

These pieces show a lovely contrast between the dull white and glossy black unique to lacquer. By matching the meticulous craftsmanship of Kawatsura lacquerwork with contemporary graphic design rendered in the chinkin (gold- or platinum-inlay carving) technique, past and present are merged and a new form of beauty is born. While they may be used purely for decorative purposes, these plates have also been carefully designed as lovely serving dishes.
